'After years spent eating like the Hungry Caterpillar, I am sick of it. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and months are suddenly years. Then all of a not-so-sudden, I am 100.6 kg. The time has come for transformation.' Former champion netball player and Silver Fern April Ieremia has struggled with her weight since retiring from elite sport in 1996. Fed up, April sets herself the challenge to lose 30 kg in 30 weeks. No gimmicks and no tricks - just eating intelligently and exercising regularly. She enlists the help of Scott Cottier, ex-SAS member and personal trainer, to whip her into shape. April finds it hard, just like many women do, to stick to her goal and keep the weight off. Trips overseas derail her programme and see her weight spike; she rewards herself with sweet treats; she sits at home in tears, battling with herself to get off the couch and go for a run - in other words, she struggles. April's weight loss journey will strike a chord with women everywhere. Follow April through the highs and lows of the 30 toughest weeks of her life - and find out how she turns tears into triumph.
April Loses It includes weekly training tips from Scott, plus a handy training guide that you can adapt to create your own weight loss programme.

Kerre's Choice
7 May 2012, 12:59pm | Review by Kerre Woodham
I guarantee this book will be a bestseller or I’ll eat my super support, stomach control, plus sized swimsuit. After all, it has April on the cover wearing a white bikini and a promise that you, like her, can lose 30 kilos in 30 weeks. I devoured the book as if it was a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel hoping for a quick fix solution, but I was disappointed. April stresses time and time again that it’s sheer hard work that got her looking this good. Early morning exercise, no alcohol, eight small meals of fruit and salad and low fat protein and you too can look great in a white bikini. It’s an easy, entertaining read but you won’t find anything you don’t already know in here. You want to lose weight - put down the book, put down the biscuit and go for a walk.

This book was really inspirational and it felt that it came from a real life human instead of some doctor or scientist. I loved this book and have already lost 5 kgs and just through reading this and getting inspired to watch what I eat and to exercise.

not again April...

It's fantastic to see April in such great shape (again). I only hope she can maintain the nutrition and exercise lifestyle that has got her into the white bikini. Seeing the word "diet" on the front of her book sets off my alarm bells. We all know diets don't work - I detest the word - the minute you stop the "diet", you regain the weight and more. It does make me wonder if April is on another yo-yo weight loss/gain path. I truly hope not. Watch this space.

April loses it

Kerre's review proves, loosing weight is not easy, nit something that can be done overnight. Whilst the book is entertaining to read.to get rid of those unwanted kilos Kerre stresses it is sheer hard work. This is a huge commitment a combination of regular exercise, keeping the lid on the biscuit jar,and determination not to give up no matter how long it takes. Sounds like a must read.

Hullo fellow book worms. I'm a big girl!!!!!!and a mum!!!!!!!!!!.
I went to the mothers Day Books and Bubbles in Hamilton. A great afternoon.
I went with my mum (87) and my visiting (Australian) sister (size 10). I went for a laugh....i.e. (Kerry Woodham....excellent speaker).
But I was inspired by April. To see her in person, she is beautiful. So April! I have been out and brought your book, (from Paper Plus)and a pen. And I am up to the second chapter.
My niece has lost 20 something kilos following you on facebook. My turn.
Thanks. Faye:)
