Daniel Hunter is a successful, young solicitor in London whose specialty is the defence of lost causes. He’s the go to man when a cherubic looking eleven year old from a well to do family is charged with the murder of a young playmate. Daniel does all he can to prevent Sebastian from being put away but his own troubled past is coming back to haunt him as he works on Sebastian’s case. Is his identification with the troubled young boy colouring his judgment? Could an eleven year old really be capable of such cruelty? A debut novel that’s made quite a splash overseas, it’s a pacey read that should keep you hooked to the end.

Since I know quite a lot of lawyers, I am always keen to read books about legal cases, so this sounds really interesting.

Oh lordy - this sounds like a real page turner! I have been reading lighter 'chick lit' over the last few months so this will be a welcome change of pace. Thanks for the heads up once again Kerre - I can always count on your recommendations to ring true.

The Guilty One

Great book, I liked it enough to buy another one for my son's partner for Christmas. Easy to read and follow, a great story which intermingled the characters well. Lisa Ballantyne has gone to the top of my fav authors list.
