The Wings of the Dove: A Screenplay
Screen adaptation of Henry James' The Wings of the Dove, by Hossein Amini, adaptor of Jude, again brings a strong, contemporary and controversial touch to a classic novel. The film's star-studded cast includes Helena Bonham-Carter, Linus Roache, Charlotte Kate falls for the impoverished journalist Merton, and faces the impossible choice of whether to marry the man she loves, or give him up in order to take her rightful place in society. The struggle between her head and her heart is a conflict between nineteenth-century values and twentieth-century passions, in the settings of London society and romantic Venice. A young American heiress, Millie, enters their circle nursing her own tragic secret and the highly charged love affair takes an unexpected direction.
