The Haystack

This book is about a girl called Maggie who learns lots of new things about her town. Her mum died so she lives with her dad; along with her cat Milly and her doll aggie of course!! Throughout the story Maggie experiences burning down the old dunny (the toilet) and helps makes a hay stack with old clop the horse who likes Maggie. She makes lots of new friends including Mr Bluenose and Freddy Jones and others. Well actually Maggie teases Freddy Jones lots. One time she told him there was a tiger looking for him and he believed her. She made tiger prints to trick him. I recommend this book for 9 to 11 year olds who love chickens as Maggie owns some. Another title by Jack Lasenby is Old Drumble.
