If you like Twilight, Harry Potter or action packed romance filled vampire novels, then this is the book for you.

The fifth book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead is intense. I recommend reading the four previous books (Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise) before starting this one as the novel begins with a strange death threat/love letter.

The story focuses on Rosemarie Hathaway, a dhampir – half human and half vampire. Rose has just completed her training at Saint Vladimir’s, a vampire academy in America. She is on a mission with her best friend Vasilisa Dragomir, a vampire princess, to try and save Rose’s ex-lover turned evil vampire, Dimitri.

This novel is fast paced, and action packed, yet gently romantic too. I recommend this novel to 15 – 17 year old girls looking for a juicy holiday read.
