The Millennium Tree

This is a very, very clever book, which interweaves two thousand years of world wide history around the development of Aoteoroa, our own country. Children are entertained and educated through the story of Taketakerau, the beautiful, sacred Millennium tree of Opotiki, who still resides in a treasured local reserve of native bush. However adults also will be inspired and intrigued by the content of this book and the emotion it evokes through the quality of the text and the beautiful illustrations that support it.
This is by far the best book I have read this millennium! I highly recommend it to readers of all ages.
