Aotearoa: The New Zealand Story

This isn’t a new release, however it does deserve our revisited attention and hearty congratulations. Aotearoa recently won the Elsie Locke Non-Fiction Award and the Margaret Mahy Book of the Year supreme award at the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults 2018. As staff, we were dazzled by the concept, colour, content and format late last year and it was in our top five bestselling books last Christmas – to say we loved it is an understatement and we are pleased for the author and publishers winning this award. Aotearoa is definitely a family keepsake book with unique illustrations incorporating Maori myth and beginnings. It covers social, economic, political and cultural history of New Zealand but also has the added chapters that are inspirational – where is New Zealand going? What will shape our future and what will we look like? It’s a book for all ages to enjoy and now we can celebrate the accolades too.
