Arcadia

Di Morrissey is, without a doubt, one of Australia’s favourite storytellers and consistently produces a tale steeped in history each year. Her strength is taking a place in the world (usually Australia but not exclusively) and writing about the unique geography with vivid descriptions – so much so that you want to immediately travel to these destinations to discover them for yourself. Arcadia is set in Tasmania both in modern times and the 1930s. It’s a mystery for a granddaughter to discover about her grandmother, Stella Holland, a gifted botanical artist. The narrative is rich with science, art and tales of the ancient forests that Tasmania is renowned for. Set around the family farm, Arcadia, an unusual flora sample and an old map prompts granddaughter Sally and her friend Jess to research as more hidden family secrets come to light... “An adventurous road trip becomes a hunt for the story of the past, solve the present and save their future” makes for the perfect holiday read.
