Perfect timing for the school holidays, this is an action packed page turner suitable for intermediate age (plus) readers. I loved Jack’s earlier books, Cut Out and Fail Safe and he has produced another cracker read with this first book in a new series. Australian high school student Jarli has used his coding skills and perfected a new app called the ‘truth app’. The app can tell when someone else is lying by recording voice tone and facial recognition – off course, this idea catches on and his app explodes across devices. But, not all are happy and soon Jarli finds himself in danger with a mysterious man in dark glasses on his trail. His family and friends are drawn into the frightening predicament too. His skillful work has drawn the attention of a criminal element and the pace of the chase picks up quickly. Whilst Jarli had good intentions for knowing when people are lying, there are wider consequences that he has to grasp hold of quickly. If you loved The Chase and Escape by Linwood Barclay, then you will love this too.
