Marsh King's Daughter

Staff member Karen recently enjoyed this and shares her thoughts... “As a non-fiction fan, I found this book to be an exciting change of pace. Although I did have to keep reminding myself that it wasn’t true (it seemed like it could be!). The main character, Helena, is presently living the good life with her husband and two daughters in Michigan’s upper peninsula. This is not far from the marsh wilderness where she was born into captivity many years ago to a woman who was kidnapped as a teenager, then raped and brutalised for many years. No wonder Helena’s mother seemed like a sad shell of a woman! Helena loved her life in the wilderness and adores her father who has taught her everything she knows about hunting, tracking and surviving in the wild. These are all the skills she will need later in life to find the man she now knows is a controlling psychopath who will stop at nothing to regain the control he once had over his daughter...” a cat and mouse game that will only have one winner!
