Perfect timing for this new Matariki book from TV personality Miriama Kamo as we begin Matariki celebrations. Te Rerehua and Sam stay with their grandmother and love to walk the grey stones of Te Mata Hapuku beach. Until, one night out eeling, as they lay on the stones, looking up into the inky dark sky they discover the stars of Matariki – Pohutukawa and Hiwa-i-te-Rangi are missing! They soon find the mischievous group of patupaiarehe have taken them and the stars need to be returned so all would know it was Matariki time. Miriama has delivered a delightful, mystical, educational story and will delight any one with young children. Beautifully illustrated by Zak Waipara and the publishers have pledged part proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the restoration of the lake Te Roto o Wairewa. We have an ever growing fabulous range of books featuring Matariki in store and this new one just adds to the quality publications we are seeing as we celebrate New Zealand’s Matariki. Te Reo version is also available.
