Turn of Midnight

This is the satisfying conclusion to the Last Hours that was released last year and left us on a high and dangling! The Black Death plague of 1348 has passed on but there are still unknowns and the people of the demesnes are untrusting as some are without their leaders. In the demesne of Develish, Lady Anne has to make the call to cross the moat and possibly expose her serfs to either the plague or the aftermath - will they find safety in the desolate wasteland outside their safe border? Lady Anne’s trusted confidante Thaddeus Thurkell and his honourable men set out to find answers to their ever increasing questions.
This is a story of leadership – Lady Anne and her wisdom, drawing from her childhood influences to bring procedures and systems in to combat health crises. She’s a strong leader and yet in her era this was not appreciated. Thaddeus and his men take their free-thinking, educated ideals to territory beyond Develish, trying to establish leadership and restore food supply and shelter. But, will their good, sound ideas be accepted by all? It’s a tale of the struggle to restore power, money and beliefs in the aftermath of a deadly catastrophe. It is advised that you read Last Hours first for it all to make sense but it’s a fabulous, satisfying duology.
