'Page-turning . . . Rich with intrigue and laced with secrets' The Australian Women's Weekly 'Luxuriant and opulent, just like Dior's glorious gowns. A sweeping story of love, betrayal and one woman's struggle to find her place in the world. An engrossing and beautiful read' TANIA BLANCHARD 'A thrilling read' RUTH DRUART 'Sparkling and complex, like vintage Champagne . . . Lester's masterful storytelling held me enthralled from the first page' CHRISTINE WELLS 1943. After spearheading several successful advertising campaigns in New York, PR wizard Alix St Pierre finds herself recruited into a fledgling intelligence organisation by the US government. Alix is sent to Europe where she is tasked with getting close to a Nazi who might be willing to help the Allied forces - but there's also the chance he might be a double agent. 1946. Following the war, Alix moves to Paris to run the Service de la Presse for the yet-to-be-launched House of Christian Dior. But when a figure from the war reappears and threatens to destroy her future, Alix realises that only she can right the wrongs of the past and bring him to justice. From the bestselling Australian author of The Riviera House, this captivating story takes readers from the dangerous, intrigue-filled rooms in Switzerland where elites schemed during the war to the glamorous halls of the House of Dior in the golden age of French fashion and journalism. I was enthralled by this story and rooted for Alix every step of the way' DANIELA SACERDOTI 'Alix [is] a heroine who is rational and glamorous and downright spunky . . . It's a rollicking rollercoaster of a read and I couldn't put it down' The AU Review 'Another absorbing novel from the practised hand of Natasha Lester' Living Arts Canberra 'A sumptuously written page-turner. Alix St Pierre is everything that makes an admirable heroine - independent, plucky, and clever' MADELINE MARTIN 'Natasha Lester braids espionage, fashion, and a broken-but-unbowed heroine together into one fascinating tale' KATE QUINN

You'll be entralled with the tension and mystery!

Sue - November 2022

We’re all fans of historical fiction author Natasha Lester and, whilst The French Photographer is my absolute favourite, her newest offering is rating high! It’s a tight, focussed fictitious account of Alix from 1943 to 1947 and you’ll be enthralled with the tension and mystery! Alix St Pierre is multi-lingual and has all the polish needed to be a spy in occupied Europe – given the task to carve out courier pathways and free Allied POWs in Italian strongholds. Her strength and relentless determination doesn’t always win her friends in high places and her success in resistance activities leads to having powerful enemies too. With the stakes high mistakes can be made and Alix has to pay a hefty price… “Following the war, Alix moves to Paris to run the Service de la Presse for the yet-to-be launched House of Christian Dior. But when a figure from the war reappears with vengeance in mind, Alix has to reactivate her espionage and investigative skills to right a wrong and bring a man to justice.” There’s nothing formulaic in Natasha’s writing style – she always writes with substance, historical accuracy and authenticity then, teamed together with strong convincing characters, to bring another successful wartime drama for our absolute enjoyment. Highly recommended.
