New to Fantasy and loved it Sarah - Whakatane Paper Plus - December 2020 I have never read Nora Roberts before, and after reading the blurb I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as I haven’t read fantasy for some time. The prologue sets the scene and tone of the world of Talamh and then the book begins in earnest in modern day Philadelphia, thus easing you in to the fantasy genre. You can immediately sense the comfort and experience Nora Roberts has in her writing. She creates an environment in which the reader steadily becomes enamored with Breen and her best friend Marco. Breen is a really relatable character in some ways and I found myself becoming invested in her journey. I think the inclusion of the fantasy setting in the prologue makes you keep turning the pages to check for when it will show itself to Breen. There are little moments where she starts noticing things. And it makes you wonder how she will react to it all. By the end of the book I was hooked and I wanted to pick up the second book in the trilogy. It ends in a whirlwind of time and space and I can’t wait to read it. Who knew I liked fantasy novels!
